Yacine Brahimi has been ruled out of Algeria’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé on Saturday due to a muscle injury.
The 27-year-old picked up an injury in Porto’s goalless draw away to Sporting in the Portuguese top-flight this past weekend. Dragões boast an unbeaten record in Portugal’s top division and lead the standings heading into the international break.
Brahimi has been duly replaced by Empoli midfielder Ismael Bennacer. The former Arsenal midfielder has racked up seven appearances in the Italian Serie B this season.
The Fennec Foxes and their Indomitable Lions’ opponents will be fighting for nothing but pride in Yaoundé, with neither yet to register a win after four rounds of fixtures.
Nigeria top Group B, closely followed by Zambia with the two to go head-to-head in Uyo this weekend for a ticket to Russia.
