A meeting to refute with force Ahmad Ahmad’s statement on the non-preparation of Cameroon to host the next AFCON took place on Wednesday between these heads of diplomatic missions and the minister delegated to the Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Relations with the Islamic world.
Following the statement made by the President of the Confederation of African Football, Ahmad Ahmad, in Burkina Faso, on the non-preparation of Cameroon to host the 2019 AFCON and following the press release of the President of FECAFOOT , who refuted such allegations, HE Mr. Adoum Garoum, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of relations with the Islamic World, received in audience on Tuesday, August 8, in turn, the heads of diplomatic missions in Morocco , From Egypt and Algeria to Yaoundé.
According to a note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the purpose of these meetings was to refute with force Ahmad Ahmad’s statement on the government’s failure to prepare for the upcoming football competition and to erase all the rumours about the possible transfer of the organization of this competition to another country.
It was also an opportunity to reassure the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of the determination and total commitment of the Government of Cameroon to the realization of this project, with the help of its partners, notably Italy, The United Kingdom, Turkey, the United States and France.
The hearings were concluded on a friendly note with each of the Diplomatic Heads of Mission, who in turn assured the Government of Cameroon of the support of their respective countries in the organization of the CAN 2019.
The Minister delegate also asked each of the hosts to be messengers in front of their respective governments and partners, in order to reassure them of the total commitment of Cameroon to successfully achieve this prestigious event.
