One of Southwest Region’s representative at the Cup of Cameroon, Victoria United aka OPOPO (One People One Power) has progressed to the next stage of the competition after beating MTN Elite One side, Feutcheu FC 2-0 in Douala.
Coined my many bookmakers as underdogs in the encounter, the team from the Opec city of Limbe however, showed that there was still great football from the Southwest Region despite their absence in the country’s top flight football.
OPOPO gave a master class of performance as they kept a clean sheet against Feutcheu FC that finished fourth this year in the MTN Elite One championship.
Goals for Victoria United were scored in the first half of the encounter courtesy of Kelly Charles and for University of Buea FC player, Kum Switbert.
Since Tiko United crossed the Quarter Finals stage in 2009 and were knocked out in the Semi Finals by Astre of Doual, no Southwest Region team has reach the Quarter finals of the Cup of Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Victoria United progress to the Quarter finals stage, simply saw them equaling the record set in 1985 by Cammark Kumba who made it to the quarter finals but were beaten by Union of Douala after a 4-0 aggregate after both matches ended 2-0 on each occasions.
