Amaju Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federations (NFF), is confident that the Super Eagles can challenge for top honours at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Pinnick believes that the amount of preparation going into next year’s showpiece will only bode well for the West African nation, as they aim to become the first side from the continent to reach the semifinal stage of said competition.

Speaking at the Federation’s Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Jos on Thursday, Pinnick expressed the country’s lofty ambitions.

“Our highest achievement is the qualification for the World Cup. Secondly, the preparations for World Cup have commenced in earnest as compared to the previous years,” he is quoted as saying by Vanguard.

“With the kind of preparations we are putting in place, I think we can win the World Cup,” he concluded.

The Super Eagles sealed their place at next year’s showpiece following a 1-0 win over Zambia earlier this month.
