For the second time in his career Abdou as he is called has signed for a Cameroonian club and left without kicking a ball.

28 year old Multi defensive position defender MOUSTAPHA ABDOULAYE back in 2009 signed for FC Yaounde II but didnt play for the club as abroad came calling.The defender left Lion Blesse of Fortuni for Cotonsport of Garoua in November but he has cancelled his contract with Cotonsport and this evening signed a 2 year deal at Eding FC of Lekie.

Relegated from the MTN elite one championship with Lion Blesse of Fortuni in the just ended campaign,The former Cintra (2008) FC Yaounde II (Didn’t feature), Fovu(2014),Lion Blesse(2017), Abdoulaye Moustapha w initially joined Cotonsport of Garoua on a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee. But disputes over non respect of terms and conditions of his contract has seen the experienced defender move to Eding to experience the CAF champions league.

Abdou who spent the period between 2009-2015 abroad and played for clubs in Oman and United Arab Emirates featuring for the likes of Al Sallam, Al Said,Bahala before he returned to Lion blesse in 2017.

Abdoulaye was relegated after a disappointing campaign last season but his desire to play elite one football and the champions league has seen the player move to Eding. Abdou had initially turn down offers from Fovu and Feutcheu to go up north to Garoua but the recent CAF club ranking which reduced Cameroon’s places in CAF competition and knocked Cotonsport out of the champions league made things difficult for the club and the player.

Reacting after his signing this evening,the player “Praised the fans, Administrative, playing and coaching staff of Cotonsport for their support in his brief stay at Garoua and appreciated the president of Eding FC for the efforts in a very short period of time to see that he joins the club.”

“I look forward to meeting my team mates at Akono in the days ahead. Meeting and working with the best two coaches now in Cameroon in Coach Mbarga and Bonaventure is a dream come true. Eding has big dreams and I will bring my contribution to make the club’s big dream a reality”the player said.

Eding Sport FC scored 43 goals in the league last season and conceded 17 goals, 13 fewer than Abdoulaye’s Lion Blesse side that got relegated after conceded 30 goals and hitting the back of the nets just 13 times.

Moustapha Abdoulaye may have suffered relegation last season but the 28 year old defender scored a bullet set piece to help Lion Blesse beat Eding 1 nil last season and consistently put up solid performances for Lion Blesse. This new page in his career may just be a turning point.
