Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his hope that Cameroon defender Joel Matip will return for their busy festive season schedule.
The Indomitable Lions centre-back has missed the Reds’ last three matches due to a thigh injury, but the German coach is anticipating the player’s return later this month.
“It could be possible that Joel will be back for some of our Christmas games,” said Klopp in the build-up to last night’s match against West Bromwich Albion.
“I really hope so but it’s not for sure at this stage. The fact he’s running again outside is a good sign. If nothing else happens then he will be close.”
Liverpool will face Bournemouth this Saturday 17 December, followed by clashes against Arsenal, Swansea City and Leicester City on the 22nd, 26th and 30th respectively.
