Public works department (PWD) of Bamenda have on Wednesday recorded their 6th win in 7 games defeating TKC in Yaoundé by 1 goal to nil.

The north west regional outfit have had an unprecedented start of the season at the MTN elite two championship and looks set to be involved in the battle for a top 3 position that will automatically take the team to the top flight competition in Cameroon next season.

Forward Dhobit Clovis scored his 3rd goal of the season at the 60th to settle matter as PWD dominated their center regional opponent(TKC) in Yaoundé.

TKC’s defeat makes it 2 in a streak after the club suffered a her first of the season last Sunday in a hotly contested derby against legendary Canon Yaoundé.

Since the start of the season, PWD have dropped points only against Renaissance of Ngoumou in a zero all game Bamenda. PWD missed a penalty in that game but wins against Avion Nkam, Lion Blesse, National polytechnic, Racing Bafoussam, Ngaoundere University(Forfeiture) TKC and a draw a Renaissance now leaves the boys of president Pascal Abunde at the top of the classification table with 19 points, 3 points clear of Eternal rivals Canon Yaoundé.

Speaking to earlier in the season when quiz if the club is in the race for promotion into the MTN elite one championship, the President made it abundantly clear that the club has set out to better their performance last season. He further explained that this generation of players (Dhobit Clovis,Mundi Kagawa,Michael Song et Al) have been brought together to avoid the heart trouble the club and it’s huge fan base endured last term as the club battled and avoided relegation.

Reacting to questions about what fans should expect, he said “Before I talk about what the fans should expect from their club,I wish to say their club(PWD) expects a lot from them,their support from far and near in all its forms is certainly a springboard”. ”

On behalf of management he said “The fans should expect a worthy representation of the PWD badge from this generation of players,they have been drilled to understand the meaning of playing for PWD and the number of smiles they will create if they take it 1 game at a time and enjoy themselves without pressure but keeping it at the back of their mind that every game is a final and a win brings more than joy to the “P ton ton” fans around the world.”

Coach Jean Baptist Toguem and his boys stay in Yaoundé to stage a frenzy next Monday against Cosmos FC of Mbam at Odza.

In other day 7 fixtures, struggling National polytechnic and Ngaoundere University played zero all in a higher learning derby on Tuesday in Bamenda.

Dynamo handed Confident Canon’s first defeat of the season on Wednesday and on the same day Renaissance of former Victoria United Forward, Kelly Charles separated zero all with AS Etoa Meki. Renaissance have now kept 6 clean sheets in 7 games.

The game pitting troubled Panthere of Nde and Avion Nkam in Buea was didn’t take place,it has rather been programmed to take place on Saturday in Yaoundé behind close doors for security reason’s given Panthere’s instability.

On Thursday, Cosmos take on Bang bullets of Nkambe while AS Matelots fresh from her first defeat of the season against Avion Nkam last Monday take on Lion Blesse of Fortuni.

So far table toppers PWD of Bamenda have won 6 of their 7 games with 7 goals scored in the process and 2 goals conceded.
