Coton Sport of Garoua

Should Farbian Mvongo’s Eding win the league this season, it would be the first league title for the club but more to that, it would be just the 3rd league title heading to the center region in 25 years and just the first time a team from the Center region would win the elite one championship since a nowadays limping Canon won the league in 2002.

In their second season in top flight football, Eding FC managed by Anicet Mbarga would become the sixteenth club to win the league one championship.

Should Cotonsport of Garoua fail to win the league title this season, it would be the first time the Garoua based club go for two seasons without winning the league in 16 years.

Surely there is a shift in the balance of power in our championship with the two clubs with the most titles (24 titles).

Canon10 titles and Cotonsport Garoua with 14 titles are presently illustrating the crisis our football is going through.

Come to think of the situation facing other former league title winners;

Another legendary club TKC Yaoundé with 5 titles join the race in the second tier of Cameroon football this season after other teams had kicked off with the championship due to intestinal problems plaguing the club till date and the club is currently not free from the worries of relegation.

Fans wish it were a better situation for Oryx Douala with 5 titles to their account.She however finds herself in the 3rd tier of Cameroon football.

Caiman Douala too have been champions of Cameroon 3 times but are million milles away from the elite championship in Cameroon, Aigle de Nkongsamba with 2 titles,Leopards of Douala with two titles too,Diamant, Sable, Tiko united all with one title to their credit are out of the Elite championship in Cameroon presently.

Last season’s champion UMS of Loum is far from being convincing in their title defence and 5 times league winners Union sportive Douala can unarguably be called the vice champion’s in the draws league this season.

This season’s draw champions Racing Baffoussam, Racing themselves are 5 times champions of Cameroon but are in the relegation dog fight this season.

The big question is; Why are Cameroonian clubs not able to experience sustainable success ?
